#1 Healthy Habit : Regular exercise – consisting of some form of cardio workout 5-7 days per week for 30 minutes, plus resistive exercise for 45-60 minutes for 5 days per week.
#2 Healthy Habit : Maintain proper weight (We don’t refer to scale weight alone. We are concerned with weight in pounds of fat. If a person has over 25 pounds on their frame, they are considered over-fat, a better measurement of health than weight alone.)
#3 Healthy Habit : Eat healthy snacks: The purpose of snacks is to regulate insulin levels and to keep the body in the constant mode of burning fat.
#4 Healthy Habit : Eat breakfast every morning: Breakfast is to start your metabolism and, like snacks, regulate insulin levels to burn fat.
#5 Healthy Habit : Use little to no alcohol: One glass of alcohol is the daily limit, but none is better (alcohol promotes the desire to eat and adds substantial sugar and calories).
#6 Healthy Habit : Sleep 7-8 uninterrupted hours per night m(best to go to sleep and wake up at the same time each day).
#7 Healthy Habit : Don’t smoke: Smoking is the number one lifestyle habit that shortens life and accelerates aging quicker than any other lifestyle habit.
(Keep in mind that obesity will surely surpass smoking in coming years.)
This list of 7 healthy habits for a healthy lifestyle is simple enough, right? Then why is it so hard to incorporate these healthy habits into our everyday lives? Because we do not truly understand that the aging process is a disease, and we need to combat its negative effects on a daily basis. Once we reach the second phase of physiological life (around age of 21!) our bodies make a cellular decision to fight to live or slowly relax and die.
Once we stop consciously promoting the process of living, the body goes into its program mode, and begins the normal (but unnatural) process of slow but- steady death. To sidestep this primary fact requires that we remain in a powerful state of denial. How amazing this simple 7-step healthy habits list is. If science could take any one of these seven healthy habits and turn it into a drug, it would be called a “wonder drug”! This is the “wonder” of choice!
Please look over the chart of these seven healthy habits for a healthy lifestyle, and ask yourself how many factors have you have adhered to for 6 -12 months, and then look at the biological difference. For example, let’s assume you are a 50 years old, and you have adopted 0 to 2 of the seven healthy lifestyle habits for 6 -12 months. You then have the biological age of 72! Congratulations, you’ve accelerated your biological aging process by 22 years! How do you feel about that?
But thank goodness, there is another side to this. Let us take the same situation, but this time looking at the impact of following all seven healthy lifestyle habits for 6 -12 months. Anyone who had done that would have the biological age of 35 years! Wonderful, you’ve reversed the aging process by 15 years! Again, if you practice most, or all of the healthy lifestyle habits, you will reduce your biological age, and the benefits will be a longer and higher quality life!
